Care for Skin Foundation Visits Mandalay, Myanmar (Burma)

From February 1 – February 15, 2018, the Care for Skin Foundation traveled to Mandalay, Myanmar to operate on children with cleft lip and palates, skin deformities, burn contractions and burn scars. The Care for Skin team was able to operate on up to eight patients a day. Surgeries were performed at the Mandalay General Hospital, while the team was supported by local hospital staff members, nurses and anesthesiologists. “We were excited to put the money we raised over the last nine months to good use,” said Dr. Marc Ronert. “Our mission is to help children in need wherever skin is missing or needed, who do not have the financial means to pay for these sometimes simple and short procedures. Our goal is not only to help these little kids in need, but also to educate local physicians so that they can eventually do these procedures on their own.”

WE HELP WHEREVER SKIN IS NEEDED

Care for Skin is a non-profit organization created to support people who suffer from skin loss due to accidents, tumors, burns, scars or genetic abnormalities. Our goal is to restore facial and body appearance to those who could not otherwise afford these types of surgeries.

WE WORK TO IMPROVE LIVES THROUGH SURGERY & SKIN REPLACEMENT

Founded in 2011, The Care for Skin Foundation is a non-profit organization created to support people who have suffered loss of skin due to accidents, tumors, burns, scars or genetic abnormalities. The goal of our organization is to restore normal facial and body appearance with plastic and reconstructive techniques to those who could not otherwise afford these types of surgeries. We help wherever skin is needed in the form of skin transplantations, scar corrections, contraction releases and other plastic surgical techniques.

“Utilizing my skills as a plastic surgeon on patients who are unable to afford necessary treatments is one of the most gratifying moments in my profession. Often, with simple reconstructive surgical procedures we are able to change someone’s life within just a few minutes. To not offer this to people in need would be unthinkable.”
